Intro
It is time to change to Windows 11 because Microsoft stopped support for Windows 10. Microsoft officially stopped support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. This means the operating system will no longer receive free security updates, technical assistance, or feature updates. While Windows 10 will continue to function, it will become increasingly vulnerable to malware and other threats without these security patches.
What this means for your PC
Your Windows 10 computer will still work, but it will no longer receive security updates or bug fixes. This makes it more susceptible to viruses and other cyberattacks.
Is it Free to Upgrade to Windows 11 from 10?
It is free to upgrade from a licensed Windows 10 to Windows 11 as long as your PC meets the minimum hardware requirements. Microsoft provides this upgrade at no cost, but note that you may incur internet service provider (ISP) fees for the data download. To check your eligibility and initiate the upgrade, you can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update on your Windows 10 PC.

My Experience
I have an old desktop computer that did not meet the minimum hardware requirements. I took my desktop to JP Barnett @IT Computer Store in Stoneridge. JP did a number of updates and briefly gave me an intro to Windows 11. My computer is now faster and I find Windows 11 very user friendly as well.
